Church on a Snow Day!

Church on a Snow Day!

Anna lead an in home worship service for those who were stuck by the weather.

Philip

This winter surprised us here in North Carolina with something we don’t get very often—snow! Not just once, but two weekends in a row, temperatures dropped, roads iced over, and many people realized they weren’t going to be able to gather for church the way they normally would.

So we gathered anyway.

On the last Sunday of January, in the face of the ice storm closures, we opened our apartment and hosted a worship service at home. Somehow, we fit about 30 people into our small space to share Scripture, prayer, and—importantly—pancakes. It felt comfortably intimate, a little chaotic, and deeply joyful. What started as a practical solution turned into one of those moments that reminds you what fellowship really looks like.

Then it snowed again the following weekend. And we did it again. This time, closer to 40 people packed in. We were blessed with deep(ish) snow and an even deeper sense that God was very present in the middle of inconvenience and togetherness.

We fit 28 people and 56 shoes in our little apartment

Malachi was thrilled by all of it—especially the snow. Watching him experience it for the first time was a gift. Philip may have enjoyed it just as much, especially once he took the go-kart out for a spin. Snow days apparently bring out the kid in all of us.

Both Philip and Malachi’s childlike play were on display in the snow.

While winter weather slowed some things down, training is now at full speed. Philip taught a Cessna 172 mechanics class for ten students, and he’s also been coordinating the 2026 apprentice training schedule. There’s a lot of behind-the-scenes planning happening right now, and it’s encouraging to see pieces coming together for the next season of training.

On the family side, this month held a highly anticipated celebration. Anna spent much of the first week of February in Greenville, South Carolina, preparing with her family for the third Lehman sister wedding. It was a full, joyful week—packed with late nights, laughter, and the kind of meaningful moments that only come from walking closely with family. Celebrating Dara and her new husband Matthew was a highlight for all of us.

We all got to dress up for Dara’s wedding.

Thank you for partnering with us in this season—through prayer, encouragement, and walking alongside us in what God is doing here. These snowy weekends, packed living rooms, classrooms, and family celebrations all feel like part of the same story: God faithfully at work in ordinary, beautiful ways.

With gratitude,
Philip & Anna
